Channell Cook has worked in higher education at Lee College since 2013. She holds an M.S. in Early Childhood Education, an M.S. in Communication and Composition, and a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with an EC-4 Teacher Certification.
Channell is the Division Chair of the Learning Frameworks Division and a faculty in the Early Childhood Education program. She has served on the Distance Education Committee for several years and often teaches in other disciplines such as English and Speech. Ms. Cook lead the Lee College Community of Online Learning and Teaching where she mentored faculty completing Quality Matters Teaching Online Certification and in their course redesign.
Additionally, she co-developed and taught the Lee College Teaching Online Certification course which focuses on improving online course delivery. Her leadership in distance education supported Lee College faculty and students during the pandemic and helped many students stay engaged with their studies.
Channell serves on the Faculty Assembly, the Equity and Anti-Racism committee, the Faculty Professional Development Taskforce, and various other campus initiatives. As a rising leader, she is active in the Baytown community where she has serves as board president for Baytown Early Educators and is a member of Babies in Baytown.
Aside from her professional and volunteer work, Channell is a mother of five, an avid reader, and a lifelong learner.
